Best Google Pixel 7 Pro cases in 2023

While the Pixel 7 Pro looks as perfect as a phone can get, it needs a case for you to protect it properly

Don't miss this deal! At $949 for Prime Day, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is down to its lowest price we've seen since launch. The phone tops our list of the best Android phones for a reason: it's got great specs, amazing cameras, and long-term support from Samsung and Google.

Smartphones just don't get much nicer than the Google Pixel 7 Pro. It boasts a more potent blend of performance, usability, and cutting-edge enhancements than pretty much anything else out there. Its camera, in particular, makes it the best smartphone for taking pictures on the planet.

We could go on and on about the various novel, machine learning-powered features (it's not really AI) and top-of-the-line components. But after cramming all that awesome stuff inside and covering it in top-shelf Gorilla Glass, the Pixel 7 Pro ends up a bit big, heavy, and slippery. But don't let that deter you because tons of top-quality manufacturers offer great cases for Google's high-end flagship, whether you need something slim, functional, or ultra-rugged.

The Caseology Nano Pop is our favorite no-nonsense case for a lot of phones, including the Pixel 7 Pro. It sports a subtle patterning that adds just enough texture to keep it in your hands, and the blue and green colorways are just novel enough to keep things interesting. Plus, it's inexpensive and passes the base-level military-grade drop test.

If you're looking for something visually interesting and super rugged, don't skip the Dbrand Grip series. It comes in some simple, some interesting, and some relatively aggressive skin designs, wrapped around a dependable and well-engineered protective layer that's comfortable and easy to hold. It's not cheap, but it is one of the absolute best.

The Liquid Air series from Spigen remains one of the best slim-built cases, especially for big and heavy phones like the Pixel 7 Pro. The grooved texture on the outside affords plenty of traction, and the compact design hides thoughtfully designed air cushioning to keep things in one piece. We especially like the subtle navy blue version over the standard black.

Taking premium phone cases to the next level, Pela makes its wide range of protective coverings out of 100% compostable materials. In other words, you can literally toss it in your compost pile years from now when you're done with it and let the microorganisms do their thing. Possibly just as important are the many novel and artistic designs you can choose from.

As the first case manufacturer to ever participate in the Made For Google program, it's no surprise that Bellroy continues to make one of the best models. Its premium leather exterior looks great enough out of the box, and over time it'll develop a natural patina that adds a well-tread look to today's most advanced mobile technology. We also like the variety of bold colors Bellroy offers.

Since it adds so little bulk, you might not expect the Rugged Armor to be such a rugged case. But it's one of the most dependable case families year in and year out, thanks partly to the precision engineering that ensures a perfect fit. It's also equipped with texturing and reinforcement in all the right places to prevent drops and mitigate them as much as possible.

The Speck ImpactHero's 8-foot drop rating might come as a surprise since it looks pretty understated and doesn't cost much from most retailers. But its dependability easily upholds Speck's great reputation, and it's even treated with an antimicrobial layer to minimize pathogen growth. We just wish it came in more colors.

Most wallet cases add a significant amount of bulk and weight to a phone, but not this one from Encased. Instead, it uses MagSafe magnets on the back to firmly attach a removable storage space for payment cards and a little cash. The extra-tall bezels are a nice touch, too, and help keep the front glass from cracking, though some users find them less comfortable than others.

Thankfully, we're once again able to thoroughly recommend Google's original Pixel case after a generation of discoloring, stretching materials. This time around, premium manufacturing means you won't have any issues in the long term. This one's the perfect way to stay in line with Google's trend for minimalist design, with understated colorways and a few eye-catching features.

Adding a slightly angular feel to the corners, the Torras MarsClimber takes away some of the slippery roundness and makes it easier to hold the Pixel 7 without getting a hand cramp. Inside, a blend of advanced engineering contributes to the case's 8-foot drop rating, and the integrated kickstand allows for hands-free viewing in either orientation.

If you don't want to cover up your great-looking high-end smartphone (owners of the Hazel Pixel 7 Pro, we're looking at you), you can't do better than the Spigen Ultra Hybrid. Instead of the middling-quality transparent materials used by many other clear cases, its back consists of hard plastic that adds protection and a precise fit over the long term.

They don't get much more durable than the Poetic Guardian, which boasts a whopping 20-foot drop protection rating and an optional integrated screen protector. Unlike a lot of rugged cases, it sports a clear back panel, so you don't miss out on the colorway of your Pixel 7 Pro. Take note, though, that it's pretty bulky.

Otterbox is practically synonymous with heavy-duty phone cases, and the Defender Series for the Pixel 7 Pro is no exception. Its rock-solid construction keeps your smartphone as safe as can be, and Otterbox is finally continuing to branch out in terms of colors. This time, we're partial to the classy blue and brown color scheme known as Blue Suede Shoes.

The VRS Damda Glide Pro represents one of the fanciest smartphone wallet case designs, with a self-actuating storage compartment door that opens at the touch of a button. On top of the increased functionality, the combination of metal and other premium materials makes this one of the most premium-feeling and dependable cases out there, although it does disable wireless charging.

The Pixel 7 Pro is technically rated for IP68 protection from water and dust ingress, but it's not wise to use it underwater extensively. To get around that, consider a similarly IP68-rated case like this one from Ghostek. The extra protection makes it perfect for a day at the beach or pool, where you'll be able to take full advantage of the Pixel 7 Pro's unbeatable camera without the worry of water damage.

This relatively simple case offers reliable protection from drops with a fairly standard two-layer that has, in this case, undergone testing in accordance with the basic military-grade drop test guidelines. But the things we really like are that its soft-touch outer layer provides plenty of grip, comes in various fun colors, and doesn't cost much.

You'll notice that some of our top recommendations for the Pixel 7 Pro are relatively thin since the phone's pretty big on its own. That includes the Caseology Nano Pop, our top overall choice due to its military-grade drop testing and ultra-slim profile. The Spigen Liquid Air and Tudia Merge are similar, with the Tudia offering enough colors to sway some people. None of these lightweight options cost very much, either.

If you want something neat-looking and extra-durable, we strongly suggest the Dbrand Grip lineup. Few manufacturers offer the same kind of interesting skins, though Pela's design selection is right there with it. For a premium look that doesn't include busy design choices, the Bellroy Leather is another favorite.
